Jake Lloyd Jones. Even his name has soul! His album "Just Like That," is filled with a rockin' dose of real life situations; the good the bad and the ugly. Jake's "rough around the edges" voice is perfect for his bluesy music and his "reality check" lyrics. Jake is unique because he doesn't stick to one particular sound. His first track sounds completely different from his second, and so on. We really liked that we found a summary about each song in his album sleeve. He gave a summary of the inspiration behind every track.
Track three, "Who Are You Pretty Lady," is very descriptive. You could see the images of the whole song going through your mind as you listened. We loved the haunting sound of the electric guitar in this song. It felt very heart wrenching and intense.
Track four, "Mikey's Revenge," is one of the best on the album. It has that laid back blues country sound that Jake does so well. This song keeps with Jake's ability to paint a picture in your mind with his words.
"The Mood Change", starts you off with that killer harmonica. This song is about September 11th, and how it changed our world on that day, and continues to change it.
"Our Men Of War," is beautifully patriotic. It has that American country twang with a traditional marching snare in the background. We think this song is a great one. It made you want to place your hand over your heart. Anyone who has a loved one who has served in a war can really appreciate this song.
"Jukebox Jake," is the song to get drunk and square dance to. This is a lighthearted party song that just makes you want to sway. This song transports you to a honky tonk filled with happy drunks gettin' down on some country blues.
Every song on this album has great instrumentation, and Jake maintains a standard of amazing lyrics with his ability to create an image in the listener's mind with every word. He is just a lot of fun to listen to! The whole CD is very personal, like you are sittin' on the porch with Jake after a long day just making some music. Staump.com highly recommends everyone to take a listen to this great artist. Thanks Jake LLoyd Jones!
