    Staump.com Concert

    June 2008 - link

myth says "We just finished up the 2nd annual Rock the Gaslamp ( http://rockthegaslamp.com ) in downtown San Diego last Sunday. I'd call it a sucess. We've done a charity benefit show before, and I know Tim has more shows planned for the both the near and far future. Stay tuned!"

timstaump says "I love the idea of a show that celebrates the success of staump.com and the artist's on the site, at the same time raising money for a charity. My thoughts are a yearly Staump.com Show Case at a major music venue in HollyWood Ca, there will be ten to twelve 15 minute sets. Each artist will be responsible to sell at least 50 pre-sale tickets $15.00 and will keep $3.00 for each ticket they sell. The goal will be, to show case over 10 artists from Staump.com in front of Southern California A/R reps,Booking Agents,Reporters, and Record labels. For each band to make $250 and to raise at least $2500 in charity money for a MUSIC related charity! Cheers, Tim "

I have three question for the Hip-Hop Community!

    September 2007 - link

myth says "I think, like all music eventually does, hip hop is evolving, and getting crossed with so many other genres that it's getting hard to say who exactly plays what style, and where the hop hop ends and the other genres begin. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though! I admit it, I listen to a fair amount of rapcore. Check out the Staump.com Hip-Hop tag at http://staump.com/tags/?q=hiphop and see."

AceWild says "Real is hip-hop is what hiphop was supposed to be,a type of music that express yourself and talks about life and battlen. The state hiphop is in is horrible its all about the money alot.Rappers that are in for hiphop are very hard to find these. If rappers keep just making these one hit wonders nobody is going to like hiphop no more.the reason why ever one doesnt buy rap ablum because most of the "hot rappers" got only one hit wonder. If we keep this up hiphop might end up like disco. But if hiphop is "cool" no more i think that what hiphop needs to die a lil so we can get real rappers that care about hiphop "

timstaump says "Rap is dead!... Do you see any of the Greats Performing?...NO. Well you got the Bay and e-40 doing there thing,.. But thats because there acting out "NOW", Since they never got a chance to shine back in the day.! yAd Waht I Mean!?... And you got the south... But see the south Has been doing there own thing all along... And the whole Roller Rink thing Was WAY 80's.... In a college music theory class once, A Proffesor asked What is Rap?... I responded with 21st century Jazz! So to answer Question #1 What is Real Rap. Depending on who you ask and from which generation 'rap' will take on different meanings. Rapping is just ONE of the elements of HIP HOP and the distinguishing feature of hip hop music. RAP IS NOT HIP HOP.... NOR IS HIP HOP RAP! At one point in time a rap was a set of excuses a con artist handed you in an effort to deceive you. In the 70s a rap were the words a person used when trying to persuade you. Today rap means saying rhymes to the beat of music. It's one of the four major element within hip hop culture. . The act of rhyming to the beat of music was called emceeing. The term rap seemed to be associated with hip hop around 1979 with release of two records in '79. The first was called King Tim III [Personality Jock] which is considered Hip Hop's first record. This was track put out by the Brooklyn based Fatback Band. The song itself was said to be inspired by old rhyme styles of Black radio djs like Jocko Henderson, Jack The Rapper and Daddy O and the rhyme styles of well known club djs like DJ Hollywood. The second was 'Rapper's Delight' by Sugar Hill Gang. I'm not quite sure how Sugar Hill came up with the term 'Rap'. Some say it was already being bantered about within the mainstream media who were then mystified by this new phenomenon. Others say that the term was coined by older folks within the community who saw similarities between young hip hoppers from the '70s and the word manipulators of earlier generations where the term rap was used.. HIP-HOP CAME FIRST!!!! RAP IS FROM THE STREETS!! And when you are from the streets You Want and NEED Respect! Besides Hustling Robin Gang Bang'n Pimp'n and over all Thug'n Rap was a way to show higher Skills in a crowed of What society would say was NOT skilled people So a game called "The Dozens" was Born!! and born in the EARLY 60's.... The purpose of the game was to totally destroy somebody else with words. There would be close to 50 guys standing around competiting against one another in which people talked about each others momthers. The winner was determined by crowd reaction.. TO DAY YOU WOULD JUST PLAIN GET SHOT CAUSE MOST PEOPLE CANT HANDLE A LITTLE CRITIZIMS AND LAUGH. They CANT TELL THE CRITICS JUST TO KISS THERE ASS.... They Must Get Butt Hurt! (Take Things TO Personal) I f***ed your mama till she went blind. Her breath smells bad, But she sure can grind. I f***ed your mama for a solid hour. Baby came out screaming, Black Power. Elephant and Baboon learning to screw. Baby came out looking like Spiro Agnew. Ideally a rap is a group of rhymes that are thrown together so everything has meaning. Nothing said is frivilous. It reflects the here and now and ideally the lifestyle of the one rapping. Rap's ideally projected the emotions and feelings experienced by the rapper. Ultimately and historically an artist rapped for no one but himself!!!! QUESTION #2 How do you feel about the current state of hip-hop music & Why? It's all evolution, you know? It seems like hip hop is now at the cyclical point that it's pushing into new territory -- where even the mainstream tracks are constantly reinventing themselves! We're finally seeing things move away from heavy sampling, which is long overdue in my opinion. And Since the HIP-HOP community has been pushing for so long.. Rap Cant Go Backwards.. Its Here and Its going to Stay!. I just Hope theres Some real Creativeness yet to be seen. Question #3 3.) Do you think that Hip-Hop music is headed in the right direction or do we need to do a self examination? Well I am not one to say If Hip-Hop is headed in the right direction or not... ( AND NEITHER IS BILL O'RILEY ) I can say that I think the Rap Industry needs a Major Examination. I mean Rap Was once Marketed to White Kids Because it was New and Thrilling.. Now More White Kids Rap and More Black Kids Golf!... A Major Examination is needed! I GOT LOTS MORE ON THIS DISCUSSION! And I am Glad a Rap artist brought this up them selfs! 'Hey look here I am world-Somebody hear my song!'. And the beat goes on an on an on It don't stop rocking till the crack of dawn when the people hear me rock the funky rap song The whole damn world wants to hum along Cause I'm e-lectricic..I'm bigger than life An everyone calls me Jesus Christ To The beat y'all check me out.. To the beat y'all check me out.. Staump.com Bounce Bounce... Staump.com Bounce Bounce... -Tim timstaump "

timstaump says "Ok!... I got more.. Man i really have been waiting for some one to post about this.. I would love to play drums for a hip hop artist or group! I grew up playing old school hip hop beats.. And any one thats seen me play will tell ya i got a little Hip-Hop Flava In my Drumming.. No Doubt.. So... Heres to You AP. I would be willing to record or collab with you on some tracks. I Got the Drums.. You Got Flow.. Where we will go.. only the lord will know!.. Stay Blessed. Tim"
