Alive in the Underground formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a 3 piece act in 2004 with Bryan Aul and Denny Stocke splitting guitar and vocal duties and Drew Billman playing drums. The trio immediately began piling up original songs. The rhythm section got beefed up in 2005 with the addition of bassist Ron Kuhn. The true sound and identity of the band began to take shape as they continuously played shows in and around the Pittsburgh area. Guitarist Steve Stout, formerly of Pittsburgh metal giants Demise of Eros, jumped on board in 2008, throwing yet another spin on the band’s already diverse musical catalog. Always looking to explore new musical territories, AITU’s sound has evolved from punky rock with pop sensibilities to a fusion of hard, alternative, and classic rock, blues, metal and punk. In early 2009, the band beat out over one hundred other Pittsburgh acts in a city wide battle of the bands sponsored by Hard Rock Cafe and WXDX 105.9 The X, Pittsburgh's premier modern rock radio station. The summer of 2009 saw the release of the band’s first full length LP, “You Deserve This.” AITU has played nearly every major venue in the Pittsburgh area, gaining momentum and passion with every performance. With an ever-expanding and diverse fan base, explosive live shows, and local media recognition, Alive in the Underground is a musical powerhouse that is impossible to overlook.
