Week one of the journey to getting published - [ Permalink ]posted: May 2009This week has been spent writing and researching publishing companies. This is a somewhat overwhelming task that tends to make you feel insignificant. It's a bit of a catch 22. Most publishing companies will not listen to your music unless you have the right connections, however, you can not make the right connections unless you find someone in the industry who is willing to listen to your music. So far I have contacted Hunnypot, Washington Street Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Platinum Pen Publishing, and Big Loud Shirt Industries. There were many other publishing companies like Universal Music Publishing Group who would not accept demos unless they were solicited by others in the industry like managers and attorneys. I will also be mailing out Cd's to various publishing companies. I'll keep you posted. Let's see how long it takes to make the right connection. |
